Restricted activities August 5th COVID-19 update

6th August 2020

Good Evening All,

Karting Victoria recently released a statement that informed you that all activities at all Go Kart Tracks were no longer allowed to be run in Victoria as at 11:59pm on 5th August 2020.
This was based on the statement issued by Daniel Andrews on 2nd August in which he clearly stated that all community sport would have to stop.

Below is the extract upon which we relied.

And from 11:59pm on Wednesday, regional Victoria will return to Stage 3 “Stay at Home” restrictions. That means there’ll again only be four reasons to be out: shopping for food and essential items. Care and caregiving. Daily exercise. Work and study – if you can’t do it from home. Otherwise, you need to stay home. Businesses in regional Victoria will also return to Stage 3 restrictions.

That means restaurants and cafes can only offer delivery and takeaway. Beauty and personal services will need to close. Entertainment and cultural venues will need to close. Community sport will need to stop.

Subsequently the Public Health Commander, Dr. Finn Romanes, issued Restricted Activity Directions (Non-Melbourne) on 6th August 2020 that significantly diluted the previous statement from the Premier. These Restrictions now allow a physical recreational facility to operate under very strict conditions. These conditions are found a Clause 6 (3) of that document. Under any circumstances competition is not allowed, but exercise and practice is allowed.

Karting Australia will shortly be issuing a COVID-19 update detailing the conditions imposed by the State Government and by Karting Australia that clubs that are not under Stage 4 Restrictions need to observe in order to run practice sessions should they so desire. We recommend that all clubs read the Karting Australia COVID-19 update carefully and thoroughly with particular attention to the increased risk in the current circumstances that are addresssed in that document. It is imperative that this risk is understood prior to making a decision to run a practice session. Karting Victoria will not stand in the way of any club wishing to run a practice session at their club.
