A huge field of 34 drivers were competing in the KA4 Junior class at Round 5 of the Australian Kart Championship at the Go-Kart Club of Victoria, Melbourne and it was local regional driver Ballarat’s #31 Jaxson Cox who put in an awesome drive in the final revelling in the wet and slippery conditions coming from 7th to take out the victory and put the Ballarat Kart Club back on the map at national level, the clubs first win at this level in a very long time.
Jaxson progressed forward through the field throughout the weekend qualifying just outside the top ten in 11th with a lap time of 43.914, finishing heat 1 15th, heat 2 14th, heat 3 9th, heat 4 7th and storming through in the wet to take victory in the 16 lap final from Oakleigh’s #94 Kobi Williams, Go-Kart Club of Victoria’s #23 Jai Stephenson and newly crowned Australian champion Eastern Lions / Geelong’s #2 Jay Hanson.
