EDIT 28 March - Please disregard this post
The track is now CLOSED as part of directions from Vic Chief Health Officer

..................................................

Update on track access for Ballarat.

The Ballarat kart club committee have met tonight to consider ongoing activities at our track.
At all times we will take in due consideration for the welfare of our members and families, so have considered all current documentation supplied by Karting Australia/ message to clubs and states/ 25/03/20, Karting Victoria/ new signage to be displayed at track, and the Australian government AHPPC advice document 25/03/20. All of the current documentation would see that private practice at our small club will still fall well inside any guidelines for safe social activity.

This means that our track will remain open To Members for private practice with the following NOT NEGOTIABLE guidelines below. We will rely on club members to ensure that we are meeting these guidelines at all times, or the track will be closed immediately.
Any updates to the operating recommendations from above sources may change this in the future.

Track operating guidelines:

1/. No one shall enter the track unless you have completed the travel advice form from Karting Australia. This means all people, not just drivers.

2/. There will be no more than 10 people inside the grounds at any given time. If you arrive and the quota is already met either you leave or someone else must.

3/. Social distancing must be maintained at all times. Extra care to wash your hands often when using any amenities.

4/. All drivers must sign in to the log book. This could improve over what we have seen, again members need to drive this.

5/. All directional signage at the track must be adhered to. Signs will be updated as required.

Again, the above decisions have been made after much consultation with our club committee. We do however rely on our members to ensure that we operate within all guidelines listed above.

The Ballarat Kart club wish you all the best in very difficult times.
Thank you,
Mal Mason.

Ballarat Kart Club

Hello to all from the Ballarat Kart club.
This week has been an absolute roller coaster of events for everyone, and a worrying time to all. The committee at our club have been working behind the scenes to keep up with the latest advice as it is received from our advisors at Karting Australia, Karting Victoria, and general government notifications, and putting actions in place as necessary.

We will be meeting again this Wednesday via meeting/ teleconference to discuss our next moves, and what is necessary to ensure that we are acting responsibly in regard to our track access and members.

We understand that all families are in different positions, and family position, potential work related issues are something that will differ greatly to us all, and effect the way we are thinking on this matter. For me personally I have an elderly parent living with us, and the potential for me to contract this virus and pass on to an elderly person is very real.

As I have mentioned in earlier posts we at the Ballarat Kart club will keep our members informed with all or any changes that effect our club. Your personal welfare related to any activities at our club will always be well considered.

Thank you for your understanding.

Mal Mason
Ballarat Kart club President.

Lets be REALLY clear:

If you have not filled out the KA travel form already: you CANNOT go to the circuit for any reason this weekend, including practice, pit crew, working bees or committee meetings.

Only 18 Ballarat members have filled out the KA Travel Register and not been overseas; that means most of you cannot go to the track.

Only 13 people who are "Not a go kart member" have filled out the form in the entire state of Victoria..

That means you cannot bring any additional friends or family (Apart from your nominated guardian who completed the form for you), along even if you have filled out the form.

If you wish to attend the circuit from next week, make sure you fill out the form 3 days in advanceIf you feel ill, please stay away from the track this weekend.

Together, we can help stop the spread and stay healthy.

If you plan on attending a Karting Australia circuit this weekend, you are required to complete the Travel Declaration and Isolation form here www.karting.net.au/karting-australia-travel-register-and-isolation-form

How often will this need filled out? How can we check if Scott Mc and Akasha Mc forms went through?

Is there anyway we can check to make sure it went through I filled my out the night it came out but some people have had trouble with it

Abbys form has been done today. We need to wait three days before we can come though, yes? Do we need to resubmit at all?

Important Update: VCS Postponed, Victorian Clubdays Cancelled
Karting Victoria Karting Australia South West Kart Club

We apologise that it has taken so long to announce, but we can confirm that VCS Round 2 will be postponed indefinitely due to Covid-19.

We can advise that all Victorian Club Days this weekend will also be cancelled.(More information to follow)

This is an ever changing situation and we are going to exercise every bit of additional caution possible.

Even if an event was below the 500 limit:
- Our officials are in the 50-80 high risk group, and we cannot put them at any additional risk.
- There is a social aspect of the VCS - people eat out together and camp together- its not just on track activity
- VCS draws competitors from across the state and interstate which is more risk of spreading infection
- Competitors are likely to pull out with the crisis unfolding - meaning the event could be cancelled on low numbers later on.
- With the current supermarket panic it could make it very difficult to have competitors arriving in a small town and needing supplies

All pre-entries for Cobden will be refunded in due course.

It was great to kick off the first club day yesterday
We had quite a few new racers learning the ropes and plenty lined up for the come and try.

It took us a while to get some engine gremlins sorted out for our 2 new cadets Abby and Will- but once they were going they both did a great job.

Mitch Arrow was the lucky winner of the Bunnings Voucher - a week after winning the first 2020 VCS tshirt.

It was a good days racing all round and we're looking forward to the March clubday already

Domenic would like to say a huge THANK YOU to the Ballarat Kart Club for nominating him to be a part of this awesome promotional event. He said he enjoyed meeting the Aust Grand Prix CEO and had fun 'coaching' Andrew to place 4th in their race! It was great to see karting promoted with the Australian Grand Prix! 😎🏎🏎🏁

About The Ballarat Kart Club

Ballarat Kart Club – Haddon Park Raceway

Long established Ballarat Kart Club has been racing at the current site since the 1960s.

The track is located at Haddon, approximately 15km west of Ballarat.

From central Ballarat, follow Latrobe St out along Carngham Rd. Turn left into Sago Hill Rd and at the Haddon roundabout take the Racecourse Rd exit. The Track is located about 300m further along.

In addition to monthly club race days, two open race meetings are held annually by the club.

These are named The Begonia City Titles and the Mort Page Memorial, in honour of the many years of service given to the club by the late Mr. Mort Page. Nowadays these events are often incorporated into rounds of the popular Victorian Country Series.

In December 2008 Ballarat Kart Club hosted the VKA Victorian Closed Kart Titles which was a very successful event.

The track is available for use by members from 9am – 6pm daily, except Tuesdays when the track is closed.
