Ballarat Kart Club

The first club-day of the year saw some old and new faces at the track, ready to kick off the year. With 2hrs practice 3x heats and a final, as always club-day proves to be great value for track time. The club also enjoyed seeing new members having their first race at Ballarat including Blake Graham, Mitchel Arrow and Taylah Allen.

The Senior class was ran with KA3 Senior light out-front and Victoria Combined Light behind. The Vic combined class giving opportunity for KA3 to join the conventional Tag-R-Light field. A good field of 9x Victoria Combined Light and 2x KA2 Senior Light had a good mix of karts and drivers, with some close racing all the way through the field.

Unfortunately heat race 1 saw several incidents leading to a few DNF’s and one of them leaving our new member Taylah Allen with a left injured hand. We wish Taylah a speedy recovery.

With the cob-webs blown off, the remaining heat races were far more sensible, with some good close racing, Jordan Malcolm was out front in the Exprit KA3 kart, with Victoria Combined Light heat wins taken by Blake Graham, John Page and Bill West.

Although a few members had mechanical issues, fellow racers were on hand to lend a hand and get on track. With all drivers making adjustments, improving on setup and results through the day.
Vic Combined Light Results: John Page 1st, Bill West 2nd, Blake Graham 3rd
KA3 Light Results: Jordan Malcom 1st, Taylah Allen 2nd

KA4 Junior heavy class included Sisters Grace Dunmore, Ella Dunmore and Lachlan Clark all doing their time on P-Plates, and continually improving. Everyone had a turn out-front with the sisters Grace and Ella sharing the heat race wins and Lachlan winning the final.
KA4 Junior Heavy Results: Grace Dunmore 1st, Ella Dunmore 2nd and Lachlan Clark 3rd

Bring a mate was once again held with club members offering up a kart to a mate to have a go in a controlled improvement. Raising interest with potential new Karter’s to get the bug and go racing! Remember, we will run bring a mate at every club day, so get a mate involved.

Next race meeting for most is the Country Series at Portland, and we will follow up with Club-day on the 31st March. Remember, bring a mate, get organised, get entered and let’s go racing!

About The Ballarat Kart Club

Ballarat Kart Club – Haddon Park Raceway

Long established Ballarat Kart Club has been racing at the current site since the 1960s.

The track is located at Haddon, approximately 15km west of Ballarat.

From central Ballarat, follow Latrobe St out along Carngham Rd. Turn left into Sago Hill Rd and at the Haddon roundabout take the Racecourse Rd exit. The Track is located about 300m further along.

In addition to monthly club race days, two open race meetings are held annually by the club.

These are named The Begonia City Titles and the Mort Page Memorial, in honour of the many years of service given to the club by the late Mr. Mort Page. Nowadays these events are often incorporated into rounds of the popular Victorian Country Series.

In December 2008 Ballarat Kart Club hosted the VKA Victorian Closed Kart Titles which was a very successful event.

The track is available for use by members from 9am – 6pm daily, except Tuesdays when the track is closed.
