We've still got some spots left for this week's practice sessions, mainly on Sunday so it's not too late to book if you haven't yet.

Please also remember that you must complete and forward your Travel Declaration to the club before your booking can be confirmed, there are still quite a few outstanding.

Congratulations to Mark Bridge for completing the courses from the Karting Australia online Officials Academy. We would like a few more people to complete the courses to make it easier for when we get back to club days. LATEST UPDATE FROM KARTING AUSTRALIA 19/5/20
What every attendee needs to know about attending clubs and karting activities in the Covid-19 environment

MOMENTUM BUILDING TOWARDS COVID-19 EXIT
- Karting Australia recognised in AIS Framework for Rebooting Sport Summary as Attendee’s Guide is released.

VIEW THE DOCUMENT HERE www.karting.net.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/ATTENDING-A-COVIDSafe-KARTING-EVENT-18-May-2020.pdf

Karting Australia affiliated Clubs across the country continue to build momentum to emerging from the COVID-19 Pandemic.

With various Clubs in four states on track last weekend, and the remaining three to have karts on track this weekend, all States are now at Stage 1 of Karting Australia’s Road Map Out Of Lockdown released last month.

The Road Map follows the path set out by the Australian Institute of Sport’s “Rebooting Australian Sport Framework”, version 2.0 of which was released on Friday.

This document is the reference for all peak sporting bodies across the country and it now specifically references that requirements that Karting Australia has put in place with the Association recognised as the reference point for the sport of Karting across the country.

“The inclusion of specific details relating to our sport is a direct result of the formal submission to the AIS and the State and Territory’s Chief Health Officers that we have made, along with the direct communication that our Chief Medical Officer Dr Brent May has had with the AIS and key Public Health Officials over the past two months,” said Karting Australia Chief Executive Officer Kelvin O’Reilly.

“This recognition of Karting as organised and regulated by Karting Australia by the AIS as a stand-alone form of motorsport is a significant step and a great reflection of the work that everyone at Karting Australia and our Member State Associations has been doing.”

As the numbers continue to build for Clubs re-opening their circuits across the country, Karting Australia yesterday released an ‘Attendee Guide’ to ensure that there is a clear understanding of the requirements for all attendees to Karting Australia Activities in the COVID-19 environment.

Mildura Kart Club

Hello Fellow members.

We are looking forward to getting the gates open and get everyone back out on the track as soon practical.

During the week there was a safety briefing by Karting Australia and Victoria Karting Association. The result is we can’t just unlock the gates and go back to normal yet.

Applying KA guidelines, we have a number of difficulties, the layout of our track (pits, in & out grids). Safety requirements, and enough officials to ensure adherence to the protocols. The severely restricted number of people we can get on the track, would see some members missing out. Assisting each other getting karts on the track, and ensuring driver safety will be an issue with the distancing rules.

With these concerns in mind, and with the knowledge that we will be seeing easing restrictions in the coming weeks the executive have elected to delay the opening of the track.

When we do open the track we will need extra assistance with officials, and Covid safety officers. If you or family can assist in these matters please let us know.

We thank you for patience and understanding, this is about doing the right things to protect the members and family and friends.

Regards
Rob

I have offered to help with whatever needs to be done... offer still stands. Also if anyone wants to become an official, look on KA website under officials academy, it’s easy... I did it! With so many other clubs throughout VIC with the same member capacity and even smaller being able to open what is holding us back? Maybe a list of things that need to be achieved would help members understand what assistance is needed.

That sucks, i don't remember being asked to help with anything yet to make it happen sooner? I have read the karting Australia guide lines and it doesn't look too difficult to achieve. What are the main barriers?

The Bendigo Committee has decided to take the opportunity at this quiet time, to undertake maintenance at the track and we will remain closed until the track is ready and safe to reopen.

We will be undertaking further working bees over the next few weekends in small teams (groups of up to 10 people per area) to ensure compliance with the current restrictions in place.
If you’re available to help, please let the club know so we are aware of how many people will be at the track.

This week we say a public thank you to the thousands of volunteers that play instrumental roles surrounding karting clubs and events across the country to ensure the sport run smoothly and successfully.

“Volunteers are the corner stone of our sport. Their importance can not be understated as without them there would be no race in which to compete and no sport for us to enjoy,” said Karting Australia’s Chief Executive Officer Kelvin O’Reilly.

“While this week we publicly say thank you to them all, it’s all year round that they deserve a pat on the back for thousands of hours they all put in for the benefit of our sport.”

Every day this week, Karting Australia will publicly highlight members of our karting family and thanking them for everything they do to keep us all on track.

National Volunteer Week is the annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers. At this uncertain time, we feel that it is more important than ever to recognise and acknowledge our volunteers.

If you would like to find out how to become a Volunteer, official or how to join a club, visit www.karting.net.au to locate your closest Karting Australia affiliated club.
