As per an email sent via the Victorian Government to Karting Victoria we are required to close the track. Go kart sporting clubs are one of the many facilities that have been made to close.

The decision we made on Thursday night to shut our track for the safety of our members is now been enforced by the Victorian Government.

All decisions we make as a committee for the safety of our members and the longevity of our club and are not made lightly. While we would all rather be out the track we are all required to comply with this decision.

We can fully respect this decision. Devistating for all members and families, especially the kids! Take care everyone, we are ALL in this together and we will become better people when we can return to what we love most KARTING!!! The friendships will thrive, the respect will be in full force and the racing will be extreme! I hope everyone can be safe and keep positive during this time and perhaps reach out to one another (as a club) if your feeling overwhelmed. No one should feel completely isolated. Yes we race together and maybe we have rivals BUT at the end of the day we have a common interest here KARTING and we are passionate. The club will come back stronger. Let's be kind, supportive and patient. I didn't realise how much I love Karting now that it's on hold. I will be so grateful to see you all at the track and at races again soon. Sending love and support to everyone. I feel blessed being part of this club and group. We've got this ❀️

The horse power stops (regrettable but necessary), yet the horse racing industry has meetings all over the country today. In times of crisis we see who's really running the joint.

I get why it has to close, however when people can still go to a hairdresser as well as a shopping center, Park etc, why on earth are karting tracks closed, these poor participants have had racing taken away from them, now can’t even practice to keep their skills up. Also thoughts need to go to a karting shops that now will make no money because people can’t even practice and possibly buy from the shops. Apologies in advance to those that don’t share the same opinion.

Helmets out for karting. Stay safe and we'll all be back to cut fast laps and inhale castor fumes soon enough.

Government preparing for a full shutdown .... stage 3

Unfortunately due to the increasing spread of Covid-19 the committee has agreed to close the track until further notice.
As the track is unattended it is difficult to police users having filled out the KA forms, maintaining social distancing and keeping good hygiene practices at the track.
Our priority is to help reduce the spread and look after the health of our members and the community.

Please stay tuned for more information via email and Facebook as it becomes available.

Why not leave it open to members?? There is no racing at the moment anyway. You are not going to get or spread corona virus if there are a few people out there using the track and adhering to social distancing rules. .....

Can’t see the logic in this πŸ€”

No......

Members, a quick update on some changes we will be making in light of the current situation.

While the track will remain open for practice at this stage, effective immediately this will be for Oakleigh members only.

All members accessing the track MUST have completed the Karting Australia Travel Register. Regardless of whether they have filled out the register we also ask that no family or friends come to the track with you, there should be the driver and one other person only.

As you should all be doing anyway everyone attending the track, both driver and parent etc, must sign in to the sign in book on the grid box.

Please also ensure that you are following all social distancing guidelines, don't pit right next to each other etc.

Ballarat Kart Club

EDIT 28 March - Please disregard this post
The track is now CLOSED as part of directions from Vic Chief Health Officer

..................................................

Update on track access for Ballarat.

The Ballarat kart club committee have met tonight to consider ongoing activities at our track.
At all times we will take in due consideration for the welfare of our members and families, so have considered all current documentation supplied by Karting Australia/ message to clubs and states/ 25/03/20, Karting Victoria/ new signage to be displayed at track, and the Australian government AHPPC advice document 25/03/20. All of the current documentation would see that private practice at our small club will still fall well inside any guidelines for safe social activity.

This means that our track will remain open To Members for private practice with the following NOT NEGOTIABLE guidelines below. We will rely on club members to ensure that we are meeting these guidelines at all times, or the track will be closed immediately.
Any updates to the operating recommendations from above sources may change this in the future.

Track operating guidelines:

1/. No one shall enter the track unless you have completed the travel advice form from Karting Australia. This means all people, not just drivers.

2/. There will be no more than 10 people inside the grounds at any given time. If you arrive and the quota is already met either you leave or someone else must.

3/. Social distancing must be maintained at all times. Extra care to wash your hands often when using any amenities.

4/. All drivers must sign in to the log book. This could improve over what we have seen, again members need to drive this.

5/. All directional signage at the track must be adhered to. Signs will be updated as required.

Again, the above decisions have been made after much consultation with our club committee. We do however rely on our members to ensure that we operate within all guidelines listed above.

The Ballarat Kart club wish you all the best in very difficult times.
Thank you,
Mal Mason.

With the situation changing rapidly with the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic & with State Government laws about closing borders and not allowing interstate competitors to compete, we have had to cancel the IAME SERIES AUSTRALIA planned this year.

As you may know, there have been cancellations or postponements of race events in Victoria which include the first 3 race events (Victorian Country Series R2, Victorian Kart Championship & Metro Series R2) & the uncertainty of when or if these race events will be run in the future, so at this time, we have sadly come to the decision to cancel the IAME Series for 2020.

However, if the currently postponed race events are re-scheduled to proceed at a later date this year, it is still a possibility the X30 Feature class may be offered but it may only be as one-off class events with no accumulation of points or prizes awarded.

REMO RACING would like to thank IAME Italy & sponsors who came onboard, Kartsport North America, Erebus Academy & RJ Garage doors.

REMO RACING & IAME Italy would like to say thankyou to the clubs from Cobden, Oakleigh, Geelong, Todd Rd & Puckapunyal for giving us the opportunity to hold these X30 events & most importantly to the X30 drivers who were very much looking forward to competing, we’ll be back.

Ballarat Kart Club

Hello to all from the Ballarat Kart club.
This week has been an absolute roller coaster of events for everyone, and a worrying time to all. The committee at our club have been working behind the scenes to keep up with the latest advice as it is received from our advisors at Karting Australia, Karting Victoria, and general government notifications, and putting actions in place as necessary.

We will be meeting again this Wednesday via meeting/ teleconference to discuss our next moves, and what is necessary to ensure that we are acting responsibly in regard to our track access and members.

We understand that all families are in different positions, and family position, potential work related issues are something that will differ greatly to us all, and effect the way we are thinking on this matter. For me personally I have an elderly parent living with us, and the potential for me to contract this virus and pass on to an elderly person is very real.

As I have mentioned in earlier posts we at the Ballarat Kart club will keep our members informed with all or any changes that effect our club. Your personal welfare related to any activities at our club will always be well considered.

Thank you for your understanding.

Mal Mason

Lets be REALLY clear:

If you have not filled out the KA travel form already: you CANNOT go to the circuit for any reason this weekend, including practice, pit crew, working bees or committee meetings.

Only 18 Ballarat members have filled out the KA Travel Register and not been overseas; that means most of you cannot go to the track.

Only 13 people who are "Not a go kart member" have filled out the form in the entire state of Victoria..

That means you cannot bring any additional friends or family (Apart from your nominated guardian who completed the form for you), along even if you have filled out the form.

If you wish to attend the circuit from next week, make sure you fill out the form 3 days in advanceIf you feel ill, please stay away from the track this weekend.

Together, we can help stop the spread and stay healthy.

If you plan on attending a Karting Australia circuit this weekend, you are required to complete the Travel Declaration and Isolation form here www.karting.net.au/karting-australia-travel-register-and-isolation-form

How often will this need filled out? How can we check if Scott Mc and Akasha Mc forms went through?

Is there anyway we can check to make sure it went through I filled my out the night it came out but some people have had trouble with it

Abbys form has been done today. We need to wait three days before we can come though, yes? Do we need to resubmit at all?

All dressed up and nowhere to go.

We've put in a huge effort over the last few months getting ready for the State Championships and while we understand the need to postpone the meeting we're not gonna lie, it was still a bitter pill to swallow.

I'd like to thank all the Committee members and all the other members who have helped out getting the place looking like it is today. A special thanks to David Patching and Adrian Hillyer for the huge effort they have put in in the last few weeks with a lot of late nights spent putting the finishing touches on everything.

Good news, the track will re-open tomorrow morning at 8am.

Please remember you MUST have filled in the Karting Australia Travel Register before accessing the track, this includes for private practice or any other reason.

We will be running a night practice session with a BBQ from 5pm in place of Saturday's cancelled club day.
Any KA licence holder is welcome but you must have already filled in the Travel Register. This list has already been sent to clubs by KA and unfortunately if your names not on it we won't be able to give you access to the track.

You fill it out once, unless your situation changes. ie. you hadn’t been previously in contact with anyone who has contracted covid19. But now you have. You would need to re fill out the form.

Did,nt the form have to be done before Wednesday to attend this week end ??

Nik Schmidt if you're coming on Sat night you'll need to fill this form out www.karting.net.au/karting-australia-travel-register-and-isolation-form

Is this something you fill out just the once? Or for every track visit?

Where do you go to fill this out??
