Not happy Jan. I was really looking forward to my first night race. I can't race the May club day so this would have been a good consolation. Where are all the people who complain about a lack of numbers? I feel bad for the club, they are doing their best.

Damn!!! With over 50% of entries coming from Cadets I guess it was never going to happen. Hard to believe only a handful of junior entries in total. For what it's worth I think closing entries earlier before people get to see the weather forecast might have helped.

Hi Racers, Please make sure you pre-enter for the Kingston Cup under lights by tonight. If we don't get enough entries, the meeting will not go ahead. Tell your mates to get on it! ... See MoreSee Less

Are there updated supp regs for the Saturday? VKA site is still only showing the original Sunday ones

KINGSTON CUP DATE CHANGE

Due to the date clash with Mothers Day we have decided to give all the long suffering kart mums a break and move the Kingston Cup to the Saturday.

The meeting will now be run on the 12th, timetable:

Gates Open: 7am
Practice: 8am-12pm
Entries: 11am-12pm
Drivers Briefing: 12:45pm
Racing: 1pm

The event will finish under lights in the evening. Please remember you will need a clear visor once the lights are switched on.

It would be great to see every member of OGKRC get behind this event and lead the entries.

This is a good development for me! Let's get this happening!

Come on guys talk to your mates and let's go racing👀⌛️. Then you can make breakfast for mum on Sunday 😂

Great stuff! I had pre entered my son already, but gotta love a saturday meeting under lights!

Great idea. This way if you don’t win a trophy to give to mum for Mothers’ Day there’s still time to get to 24 Hour Kmart for something else!

Awesome.

Saved a marriage by changing the dates 👌

Nick Flodstrom

Do we need to pre enter again for Saturday or no?

Nick Flodstrom

Why is everyone tagging Nick Flodstrom in this?

Was going to race on Sunday but too late to get time off work for Saturday. Good luck to all the competitors for this great event.

Motorsport might traditionally be a male dominated sport but it was great to see so many female racers out today at the April Club Day.
Miley Miller and Hayley Zammit were showing the boys how it's done in Cadet 9 with a 1st and 3rd respectively, maybe we've got the next Leanne Tander or Simona De Silvestro in this photo.

About The Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club

Oakleigh kart track is situated only 25 Km from the Melbourne CBD, on the South Eastern side of the city. The club has been established for over 25 years and in that time many changes to the facility have taken place.

The club now has a circuit over 900 meters in length as well as modern up to date facilities with licenced clubrooms and seating for up to 120, as well as a fully equipped kitchen to cater for members and their guests at club events.

Combine this with other features such as track lighting for night events, 3 story starters control tower and a 2 story race control then add to this a circuit design that is both demanding on drivers skills and set-up. Oakleigh is hard circuit to master but once mastered allows the driver to gain the level of experience required for most other tracks. And judging by the number of National and State Champions that have gained their skills at Oakleigh you can see that if you master our track, you can win anywhere.

The Club is permanently expanding and has just purchased 8 Hectares of land. This will enable the club to relocate the exciting pit and car parking areas. The club is also looking at some form of undercover pitting facility for all competitors, as well as investigating the possibility of covering the Grid area. the remainder of the land will at a later stage be used for other kart related activities.

Licensed membership levels at the club have stayed relatively stable over recent years, with a peak of just over 700 in the early 90’s to a level of just over the 600 mark for the last 6 years.

At Oakleigh our membership numbers are based on licence holders , not the total number of members, which is considerably higher. Racing at the club consists of 10 Club Race days – Held on the last Sunday of every month- and 3 to 4 Open Race Meetings throughout the Year. Club Day’s attract about 200 entries with most classes being catered for.

Practice at the Club is restricted to club members only, they are issued with a key to allow them access into the track for practice any day of the week. the track is made available for Non Oakleigh members leading up to Open Race Meetings.

Thank you for taking the time to read this brief insight into the Oakleigh Go Kart racing Club Inc. For more information on the club please feel free to contact us on the numbers in the contacts section,
