MEMBERS: Karting Victoria has been informed by the Victorian Government that effective immediately all kart tracks in Victoria must close.

While this is incredibly disappointing we all need to do our bit to stop the spread of this virus.

The gate is closed and disabled, your keys will not work so please do not attempt to access the track.

We can fully respect this decision. Devistating for all members and families, especially the kids! Take care everyone, we are ALL in this together and we will become better people when we can return to what we love most KARTING!!! The friendships will thrive, the respect will be in full force and the racing will be extreme! I hope everyone can be safe and keep positive during this time and perhaps reach out to one another (as a club) if your feeling overwhelmed. No one should feel completely isolated. Yes we race together and maybe we have rivals BUT at the end of the day we have a common interest here KARTING and we are passionate. The club will come back stronger. Let's be kind, supportive and patient. I didn't realise how much I love Karting now that it's on hold. I will be so grateful to see you all at the track and at races again soon. Sending love and support to everyone. I feel blessed being part of this club and group. We've got this ❤️

The horse power stops (regrettable but necessary), yet the horse racing industry has meetings all over the country today. In times of crisis we see who's really running the joint.

I get why it has to close, however when people can still go to a hairdresser as well as a shopping center, Park etc, why on earth are karting tracks closed, these poor participants have had racing taken away from them, now can’t even practice to keep their skills up. Also thoughts need to go to a karting shops that now will make no money because people can’t even practice and possibly buy from the shops. Apologies in advance to those that don’t share the same opinion.

Helmets out for karting. Stay safe and we'll all be back to cut fast laps and inhale castor fumes soon enough.

Government preparing for a full shutdown .... stage 3

My kids engine blew up on Tuesday after just 1 run, we will rebuild and be back bigger and better than before!

Members, a quick update on some changes we will be making in light of the current situation.

While the track will remain open for practice at this stage, effective immediately this will be for Oakleigh members only.

All members accessing the track MUST have completed the Karting Australia Travel Register. Regardless of whether they have filled out the register we also ask that no family or friends come to the track with you, there should be the driver and one other person only.

As you should all be doing anyway everyone attending the track, both driver and parent etc, must sign in to the sign in book on the grid box.

Please also ensure that you are following all social distancing guidelines, don't pit right next to each other etc.

Our practice night kicks off in a few hours. We've managed to track down meat and bread for the BBQ and not just your supermarket stuff some proper fancy stuff.

Please remember that if you had not filled out the Karting Australia Travel Register by Thursday night you will be unable to enter the track.

All dressed up and nowhere to go.

We've put in a huge effort over the last few months getting ready for the State Championships and while we understand the need to postpone the meeting we're not gonna lie, it was still a bitter pill to swallow.

I'd like to thank all the Committee members and all the other members who have helped out getting the place looking like it is today. A special thanks to David Patching and Adrian Hillyer for the huge effort they have put in in the last few weeks with a lot of late nights spent putting the finishing touches on everything.

While we can't race we've got our practice night tomorrow and we're looking at some other things we can do in the coming weeks so please come down and enjoy the track while it's looking so good.

Good news, the track will re-open tomorrow morning at 8am.

Please remember you MUST have filled in the Karting Australia Travel Register before accessing the track, this includes for private practice or any other reason.

We will be running a night practice session with a BBQ from 5pm in place of Saturday's cancelled club day.
Any KA licence holder is welcome but you must have already filled in the Travel Register. This list has already been sent to clubs by KA and unfortunately if your names not on it we won't be able to give you access to the track.

You fill it out once, unless your situation changes. ie. you hadn’t been previously in contact with anyone who has contracted covid19. But now you have. You would need to re fill out the form.

Did,nt the form have to be done before Wednesday to attend this week end ??

Nik Schmidt if you're coming on Sat night you'll need to fill this form out www.karting.net.au/karting-australia-travel-register-and-isolation-form

Is this something you fill out just the once? Or for every track visit?

Where do you go to fill this out??

MEMBERS: The crack sealing is going well but unfortunately it is taking longer to dry than expected.
The company has advised us that the track will need to be closed tomorrow as well to allow sufficient drying time.
Apologies for the late notice but hopefully the track will be in much nicer condition when it does re-open.

Members:

Unfortunately due to the ongoing coronavirus issue all race meetings in Victoria have been cancelled for now.

For those of you who don't yet want to go into complete isolation we will be turning the lights on and firing up the BBQ for a bit of a social practice night on Saturday. Everyone is welcome and there is plenty of room in the pits to still keep your distance should you wish.

$10pp includes the BBQ, 5pm onwards.

In for evening bbq and testing. Will those who have pre entered have their entry fee refunded or will it roll to the next running club day? I'm good with either, whatever is easier.

Well done OGKRC. Maybe this should be a continuous mid monthly non sanctioned social event opened up to non members. Just saying. 🙂

Fantastic can’t wait see you guys there. Do you guys need anything for the bbq? Drinks snags etc?

Im in 100%! There is nothing like Oakleigh under lights! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

100% we are in

Members, we've been working hard getting the track ready for the State Championship in a few weeks.

We've tried to keep the track closures to a minimum but to get a few things finished we'll need to close the track from 5pm on Monday afternoon, if you're free please come down and give us a hand.

The track will also be closed all day Wednesday while we have the entire track crack sealed, the remaining ripple strips painted and some more line marking done.

About The Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club

Oakleigh kart track is situated only 25 Km from the Melbourne CBD, on the South Eastern side of the city. The club has been established for over 25 years and in that time many changes to the facility have taken place.

The club now has a circuit over 900 meters in length as well as modern up to date facilities with licenced clubrooms and seating for up to 120, as well as a fully equipped kitchen to cater for members and their guests at club events.

Combine this with other features such as track lighting for night events, 3 story starters control tower and a 2 story race control then add to this a circuit design that is both demanding on drivers skills and set-up. Oakleigh is hard circuit to master but once mastered allows the driver to gain the level of experience required for most other tracks. And judging by the number of National and State Champions that have gained their skills at Oakleigh you can see that if you master our track, you can win anywhere.

The Club is permanently expanding and has just purchased 8 Hectares of land. This will enable the club to relocate the exciting pit and car parking areas. The club is also looking at some form of undercover pitting facility for all competitors, as well as investigating the possibility of covering the Grid area. the remainder of the land will at a later stage be used for other kart related activities.

Licensed membership levels at the club have stayed relatively stable over recent years, with a peak of just over 700 in the early 90’s to a level of just over the 600 mark for the last 6 years.

At Oakleigh our membership numbers are based on licence holders , not the total number of members, which is considerably higher. Racing at the club consists of 10 Club Race days – Held on the last Sunday of every month- and 3 to 4 Open Race Meetings throughout the Year. Club Day’s attract about 200 entries with most classes being catered for.

Practice at the Club is restricted to club members only, they are issued with a key to allow them access into the track for practice any day of the week. the track is made available for Non Oakleigh members leading up to Open Race Meetings.

Thank you for taking the time to read this brief insight into the Oakleigh Go Kart racing Club Inc. For more information on the club please feel free to contact us on the numbers in the contacts section,
