It’s a long trek for our OGKC superstars this weekend for the 4th round of the Nationals in Emerald QLD. With the weather looking fine and sunny our flyers should be in for some great racing.

Henry Johnstone will be there fighting for victory in KZ2 along with Matthew Hillyer in KA2. Our youngest driver in Cadet 9 William Calleja will hit the track along with a typically big contingent of Cadet 12’s, Toby Dvorak, Lewis Francis, Miley Milley, Xavier Avramides and Angus Hall will all compete in one of the most competitive fields of the day. KA4 Junior will be represented by Jake Santalucia & Kobi Williams and KA3 Senior with Jack Bell & Joel Macpherson. Lastly Wayne Bourke & Ray-Yu Wang will be the ones to watch for Oakleigh in X30.

Keep your eyes on Speedhive to keep up to date with all the action from the track.

We will be holding a working bee this Saturday from 8am to 1pm to try and replace as many of the old tyre barriers around the track as we can. It is a condition of maintaining our track licence that this work is completed so please come and give us a hand even if it’s just for a few hours, many hands make light work. Please bring cordless drills if you can.

The track will be closed from 8am to 1pm.

A super weekend of racing coming up for our Oakleigh drivers competing at 2 big events.

Our eyes will be trained on the North Shore Kart Club for the NSW Kart Championship. Lewis Francis will be flying the Oakleigh flag in the Cadet 12’s, Kobi William in KA4 Junior Light and Joshua D’Ambrosio in KA4 Junior Heavy.
With a slight chance of rain at Eastern Creek, this event will be one to watch.

A big contingent of Oakleigh’s best will also be at Hamilton for Round 4 of the DPE Victorian Country Series with pocket rocket Matthew Basso looking good alongside William Caleja and newcomer Renee Dvorak in Cadet 9.

Xavier Avramides, Joanne Ciconte, Toby Dvorak and Angus Hall all having a crack at the very competitive Cadet 12 category.
The equally tough KA4 Junior Light category will be represented by Jake Santalucia, Max Chudasko, Riley George and Thomas Patching.
KA4 Junior Heavy - Braden Clark, Liam Pollard, Hamish Tonkin, Max Chudasko.
KA3 Senior Light – Jack Bell, Joel Macpherson, Bryce Woollard, Adam Pasek and Hamish Allen.
Victorian Combined Light – Timothy Evans and Andrew Sotiropoulos.
Victorian Combined Medium and Heavy – Vern Kranz and finally our own James Sera in Tag 125 Light.
Safe travels to everyone making the drive to both events.

Riley Jabke who is also a OGKC Member is also here at Eastern Creek contesting KA4 Junior Heavy.

In a desperate attempt to cling to our fading youth and to prove that we're hip and cool we've started an Instagram page.

So #hashtag us @oakleighgokartracingclub when you're at the track and keep us up to date with how your weekend is going while you're racing away from home.

4SS is a go at Oakleigh. Starting at the August club day we'll be adding 4SS to the regular club day classes, we've got 4 confirmed starters already and a huge amount of interest from a lot more.

Ian and Mitch from Ringwood Kart Centre will be coming down to race as well as provide support for the karts.

Since our August club day is a Saturday day/night meeting we're inviting all 4SS drivers from around the state to come down and have a race before heading to your home club day on Sunday. 4SS will be first in the race order to make sure you get out as early as possible.

About The Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club

Oakleigh kart track is situated only 25 Km from the Melbourne CBD, on the South Eastern side of the city. The club has been established for over 25 years and in that time many changes to the facility have taken place.

The club now has a circuit over 900 meters in length as well as modern up to date facilities with licenced clubrooms and seating for up to 120, as well as a fully equipped kitchen to cater for members and their guests at club events.

Combine this with other features such as track lighting for night events, 3 story starters control tower and a 2 story race control then add to this a circuit design that is both demanding on drivers skills and set-up. Oakleigh is hard circuit to master but once mastered allows the driver to gain the level of experience required for most other tracks. And judging by the number of National and State Champions that have gained their skills at Oakleigh you can see that if you master our track, you can win anywhere.

The Club is permanently expanding and has just purchased 8 Hectares of land. This will enable the club to relocate the exciting pit and car parking areas. The club is also looking at some form of undercover pitting facility for all competitors, as well as investigating the possibility of covering the Grid area. the remainder of the land will at a later stage be used for other kart related activities.

Licensed membership levels at the club have stayed relatively stable over recent years, with a peak of just over 700 in the early 90’s to a level of just over the 600 mark for the last 6 years.

At Oakleigh our membership numbers are based on licence holders , not the total number of members, which is considerably higher. Racing at the club consists of 10 Club Race days – Held on the last Sunday of every month- and 3 to 4 Open Race Meetings throughout the Year. Club Day’s attract about 200 entries with most classes being catered for.

Practice at the Club is restricted to club members only, they are issued with a key to allow them access into the track for practice any day of the week. the track is made available for Non Oakleigh members leading up to Open Race Meetings.

Thank you for taking the time to read this brief insight into the Oakleigh Go Kart racing Club Inc. For more information on the club please feel free to contact us on the numbers in the contacts section,
