The 2018 Junior Top Guns race meeting was held under very wet and gloomy conditions for the second straight year over two nights on Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th at the Oakleigh Go-Kart Racing Club.
Just under 110 drivers and their crews were competing at the first race of 2018 in Victoria and the meeting would also be the first for the new MyLaps timing system which provided the competitors and people who wanted to keep an eye the results from the meeting with lap by lap live timing via the Mylaps Speedhive mobile app, which also provides detailed statistics, lap charts, meeting points and driver comparison tools.
A huge prize pool was on offer at Oakleigh and the big prize of a brand new Arrow Go-Kart was randomly drawn and the winner went to a driver from the youngest class competing, young Cadet 9 driver Lewis Francis from Oakleigh/GKCV clubs. A big congratulations to Lewis and his family along with mechanics Brian and Justin and a huge thankyou to the sponsors of the meeting for putting up so many great prizes for the young juniors including Melbourne Kart Centre, DPE Kart Technology, Kingston Trophies, J&A Kart Tuning Centre, Shamick Racing, Kerbrider, Tony Kart Australia, Page Bros RV Jayco, The Dingley Hotel, AKD Photos, Dunlop Kartsport, Bridgestone Karting Australia.
